10 year old router, keeps dropping out

Hello there.

I have been with Talk Talk since October 2014 - coming up to 10 years. I've been happy over that time. However, the original router I was sent seems to keep dropping out recently, and it's really annoying!

Am I perhaps due an upgrade? It's an H635, hardware G.1.01, software v1.14t.

I look forward to hearing back with your solution.

Thank you very much

Hi Hobgrumble

That's great, thanks for letting us know 🙂

I have sent you a Private Message with a link to a short survey for the Community.

Thanks again.

The new router works perfectly - thank you for sending it.

The speeds are a little faster via wi-fi around the house, but most importantly it's not dropping out like the old router.  I've had it a few days and no issues at all, which is a great relief.

I've sent the old crappy router back to TalkTalk in the free envelope provided.

Cheers.

Hi Hobgrumble

Thanks for your reply.

The router is on its way, please allow 24-48hrs for this to arrive.

Let us know how the connection compares with this router.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I hope a new router would rectify the issue.

Everything is fine otherwise!

I appreciate your help.

Hi Hobgrumble

Sorry for the delay.

I can send you a replacement router, would you like me to arrange this for you?

Thanks

Tip: if you do get a new router then just change the SSID and WiFi password to those you are using already. That way all your devices should just connect without issue.

Thanks for the reply.  That's what I thought - 10 years old in the IT world is ancient!  I've just wasted 80 minutes that I won't get back going around in circles on the TalkTalk chat help thing, but had different support from 4 people over that time to no avail.  One of them had me reset the router but didn't tell me the wireless network name and password would go back to the default.   Good job I kept the box from 10 years ago with the little card with it on - I'd be stuck otherwise, as I'd changed the name and password a decade ago.

If any TalkTalk admin do see this (Debbie?) then all offers of real assistance would be appreciated!

Now, I've got to go and put the old password into every connected device again ..... ho, hum.

That router is a wee bit long in the tooth and could probably do with replacing. If you would like the support team to look into this for you make sure that your personal details including TalkTalk phone number and/or account number are complete on your community profile (click here) so that they can link your forum identity with your account and then wait for them to respond. Bear in mind that they won't be back online until Monday.
